Norms travel downward
If a captain rolls their eyes at reporting, the freshmen on that team learn the lesson instantly. If the same captain says 'I told Coach and I would do it again,' the norm flips just as fast.
Recruiting visible students is the cheapest culture change available to a school.
Courage is a decision made in advance
Nobody improvises bravery in the moment. Students who have decided ahead of time what they would do are the ones who act.
Assemblies that ask students to make that decision out loud, in the room, get better outcomes than those that only describe it.
